LLOYD NAMED DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Saskatchewan Roughrider linebacker Maurice Lloyd has been named the CFL’s Defensive Player of the Month for August.

 

Lloyd capped off the month of August with a strong performance in Sunday’s Labour Day Classic where he led the Rider defence with six tackles, two quarterback sacks and one forced fumble.

 

So far this season, the University of Connecticut product has accumulated 34 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, four tackles for a loss, two quarterback sacks and one fumble recovery.

 

This is the first CFL player acknowledgement for Lloyd who is now in his third CFL season.

 

Also receiving acknowledgement in the monthly awards was defensive back Sean Lucas who was runner-up in the Defensive Player of the Month category.
