RIDERS IN THE COMMUNITY
Friday, July 30th - Donovan Alexander, Hugh Charles and Jeremy O'Day payed a visit to the Regina Lutheran Nursing Home, where they acted as Celebrity Judges for the Nursing Homes version of the "Buffalo Days Parade."
The winning float was the re-vamped wheelchair made to look like a Roughrider Helmet.

Saturday July 24th - Roughriders Donovan Alexander and Obed Cetoute made their way out to Strasbourg to take part in the 100th birthday celebration of one of the towns residents. Mabel and the Roughriders are both ringing in 100 years of Pride together.

On Wednesday, Sept 23rd, Roughriders Eddie Davis, Gene Makowsky, Chris Szarka and Chris Getzlaf all took part in the Leader Post Raise-a-Reader program.
All four players traded in the Green and White uniforms and replaced it with a Bright orange T-shirt as they walked the streets of Regina selling papers in support of a great cause.

On Tuesday, September 15th, Roughriders Darian Durant and Luca Congi stopped by the unveiling of Regina's first "Extreme Home Makeover", the two Riders surprised Kelsey Culbert (and the Culbert family) by waiting for them to arrive in the basement of the new house.
Darian and Luca presented Kelsey with a package of various Rider paraphernalia, which included Rider gear, and Game tickets for the Culbert family.

Offensive lineman Marc Parenteau joined the staff and students of Thomson Community School on Wednesday, May 27. Marc delivered a presentation as part of the Greenzone Sustainability Blitz, which is presented by Environment Saskatchewan, the City of Regina and SARCAN in partnership with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the CFL Players Association. Students from kindergarten to grade eight gathered in the school gym for a high-energy presentation. Interactive activities involved students against teachers in an effort to provide everyone with strategies to reduce their water and energy use and their waste output. Marc challenged the students to take action in their own schools, homes and communities.
Grade 5 and 6 students enjoyed a follow-up workshop which focused on the importance of water in the functioning of our brain, lungs, bones, muscles and blood. Students were involved in small group activities and learned some surprising facts about the percentage of water within various parts of our body.

Marc also took some time to autograph Rider flags, Rider jerseys and Rider footballs much to the delight of both students and staff. Thank you, Marc!
On Saturday, May 9th, Riders John Chick and Scott Schultz were in attendance Luther College and spoke at the Healthy Lifestyles conference.
John was presented with the Saskatchewan Inspiration Award, on behalf of the The Canadian Diabetes Association, for his role in the community as well as his significant charity work. John spoke to the group about his journey to professional sport, healthy lifestyles and pursuing your dreams.

Fellow teammate Scott Schultz also spoke at the event, speaking on the role he, and the other Riders, play in the community through various charities and volunteer work.

Following the presentation, the two players took the time to answer any questions members of the conference had for them.

Defensive End John Chick recently led a presentation at Macneil School in Regina, where he spoke to the students on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

The Moose Jaw Lions Club hosted a Rider night on February 28th and raised over $12,000.
George Reed was in attendance to help support this event along with seven Roughrider Players including Marc Parenteau, Seante Williams, Wes Cates, Chris Getzlaf, Belton Johnson, John Chick and Matt Dominguez.
The money raised was enough to purchase two seeing eye dogs, who will be named Rider and George respectively.

On January 17th, SaskEnergy KidSport Charity Calendar contest winners Allan Stuart and his guest Jackie enjoyed lunch at the Rooftop with Roughriders Matt Dominguez and Scott Schultz.

On December 23rd, 2008, Rider players Gene Makowsky, Jeremy O'Day, Wes Cates, Mike McCullough, and Marcus Adams, along with members of the Rider support staff were in attendance at the Regina Food Bank.
